Juan Andrés Caruso

Lyricist and play-writer (20 September 1890 – 1 March 1931)

He lived barely forty years and it gave him time to be an outstanding playwriter, journalist, and one of the most prolific tango lyricists.

He was an avant-garde of the picturesque tango; that is to say, the tango that portrays the mocking spirit of the man of Buenos Aires, describing the subtle aspects of his peculiar idiosyncrasy.

Adolfo Herschel

Lyricist, guitarist and singer (17 August 1892 – 12 July 1941)

Around age twenty he began to publish in the magazines of that time (Mundo Argentino, El Hogar) the delicate poems he used to write when he was a student.

He was a true, loyal friend of the Gardel, who used to frequent his home and he was, from the beginning, also contributor to his repertoire.

For instance with his tango with music by Francisco Lomuto: “Muñequita”.

Juan Carlos Marambio Catán

Singer, lyricist, composer and actor (30 July 1895 – 15 February 1973)

Of all Marambio Catán’s activities it is impossible to omit his contribution as author.

Because of that he is remembered today, in a dictum that is not unfair, but it is indeed not thoroughly thought over when all his fame in this sense is based in the memory of three or four pieces.

“Acquaforte” with music by Horacio Pettorossi, his most widely known creation which was a hit in the songbooks of Gardel and Magaldi was born in Europe.

Let us add the lyrics of several tangos which became famous in their instrumental versions, such as “El monito”, “Buen amigo” or “El choclo”.

Charlo, Argentine Tango singer and composer.

Charlo

Singer, musician, pianist, actor and composer. (July 7, 1906 – October 30, 1990)

In 1928, his profuse presence on record for the label Odeon began not only with Francisco Canaro‘s or Francisco Lomuto’s orchestras, both very popular, but also with guitars. In his abundant discography with Canaro (more than half a thousand songs until 1931), the singer and orchestra alternate protagonism.

From his important work as composer, of rare ability to musically express human drama and romantic rapture, “Rondando tu esquina”, with lyrics by Enrique Cadícamo, stands out.
