We want to personally thank all of you from me and Miranda for your presence and support throughout this time.

Do not miss your chance!!!

Since the current global health crisis started, Tango has been greatly affected by it, like many other aspects of our lives.

Just imagine what it means for the milonga organizers in Buenos Aires!

I am talking not about any milonga organizer, but of those that have been working for many years, making careful choices, about the set up of the chairs and tables, the selection of the tablecloths, the music, the lights, developing the skill to remember your name and balance the distribution of dancers around the dance floor, thoughtfully giving each of the milongueros and milongueras a place in the milonga Cosmos, not only physical, but in every possible aspect of existence, being proactive in promoting the acceptance of the codes of the milonga as a way to express respect for others and for Tango itself…

And now all of it is gone.

Yes, it will all return, but…

What are we doing in order to make sure this time is not wasted?

In my particular case, I am deeply thankful to all our group of students who have kept the fire on and help us and each other to continue the improvement of our Tango, and our lives in general, since Tango is inseparable from other aspects of our lives.

We are already better dancers!!!

This improvement trend is continuing and will justify this odd time, giving it meaning.

Do not miss your chance: Tomorrow we are starting a new series of virtual classes. If you still think that you won’t benefit from this format, I encourage you to reconsider. Perhaps you would like to read the following articles I wrote on this subject:
If you still feel that virtual classes are not a good match for you, we are restarting in-person private lessons. And of course we keep offering virtual private lessons online as well. Many of our students already started!!!

I am sure that you care about Tango, your group of Tango friends, and your teachers.

Tango is waiting for you.

Learning any valuable knowledge or art, like Tango is -both an art form and wisdom-, is not easy; it is also not an easy task for teachers to educate students about it.

If you add to the mix a new, unfamiliar environment, namely “online”, things become a little more challenging, not only for students, but also for teachers.

However, if there is good will, the challenges can be overcome, and both teachers and students gain the advantages that online classes can provide.

All the students who have joined our virtual classes have improved exponentially, and I want to congratulate them from my part and from Miranda’s: Mimi, Danielle, Suzanne, Kathy and Pietro, Katalina, Janette, Laura, Vitaliy, Olga, Lyudmila, Lynn, Alvaro, Athena, Cora and Ryan, Dima and Jenia, David and Stephanie, Oscar and Tara.

I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage those of you who have not joined us yet, to not miss more of our classes online.

I am asking you to suspend all judgements and preexisting biases about it and jump into this experience without a doubt that it will be greatly beneficial for you and for all of us: teachers and students.

The time will come when we will be able to get together again in person. A good portion of our wonderful group of students kept the continuity of our student/teacher relationship and of the whole of our group to Tango itself.

We are very thankful for this.

It is very important to understand that the bridge that links to online classes can keep you connected to Tango and to the rest of our group, is going to benefit not only you, but all.

Communication through the use of language is possible among those who share similar experiences.

The experiences which gave shape to myself made me able to dialog with milongueros born a generation before me in Buenos Aires, and see the gold glitters of their dance, the emotions of the neighborhood, the smell of humid soil in a raining day, the colors of gardens, the sunsets on the sidewalk, playing soccer with next door’s kids, while families bring their chairs out and seat to breath and enjoy the calm of the moment and the chat with the neighbors, those walks back and forth from school, the flavors of your mom’s meals, the sounds of horses bells and carts, the melodies of the street vendors, the knife sharpeners and junk dealers, your dad’s voice playing cards in the local bar with his friends, your grandma adoring those Argentine movie stars appearing in magazines or black and white tv shows…

All that is foreign to a Porteño of my generation.
